Shiro's Sushi (Seattle, WA)

I had done a lot of research, so when I visited Seattle, I made reservations at Shiro's in advance.

This is Chef Shiro. He brought sushi to Seattle 43 years ago and is still at the counter cutting fish. Two time James Beard Nominee. Trained with the Masters in the Ginza district of Tokyo. A true Master Sushi Chef.

I ordered the Omakase Sushi. Highlights included Toro, Scallop, Goeduck, Sea Urchin... oh who am I kidding? It was all REALLY good.

My friend Zac ordered the Sushi Dinner. It was apparently as filling as it was delicious.

My friend Brian ordered the Omakase Sashimi with a side of sushi rice.

Couldn't leave without trying the spot prawns. They were alive just moments before.

And you can't just discard the prawn head, right?

So, we also tried the famous Black Cod. It WAS melt-in-your-mouth good, as many reviews attest to. I forgot to take a picture of it, but take my advice. If you go to Shiro's, order it. We treated it as an appetizer.

So my review: Not only did I just have the best sushi in my life at Shiro's in Seattle, but it was one of the best meals of my life. Period.

Maximus Minimus (Seattle, WA)

When I visited Seattle recently, I made it a point to track down the Maximus Minimus Food Truck. There was a line when we arrived and we soon found out why.

Maximus Minimus Pork Sandwich, Slaw, Ginger Lemonade

I ordered the Maximus Pulled Pork Sandwich, the Minimus Slaw, and a very tasty Ginger Lemonade. It was all very delicious and, according to their signage, locally sourced, organic, hormone free and served on compostable products. I would definitely eat there again.

The cantina taco from TacoBell is the grossest thing I've eaten in recent memory. Just awful.
